Torn paper portraiture station created for visual reflection in retreat setting.
This art therapy exercise invited retreatants to create a visual of the voices influencing their thinking. They reflected on these questions: What voices are telling you that you are not enough? What are the voices saying? Then, using the provided portrait outlines, they imaged their responses with text, photos, or shapes from magazines or used colored pencils to draw inside the outline. An invitation was then given to consider how those voices crowd out the still, small voice. In the end, AHA! moments punctuated their investment of time and focus in the exercise revealing new personal insights to all.
