Rustic creche design.

Creating in outdoor spaces requires strong sensitivity to the environment when mixing human-made with natural elements. I prefer a design perspective that pays attention to what is indigenous to the space rather than what it can be forced to become. Before the homeowner removed a recently deceased tree, I created a sheltered space centered on the tree for a Christmas Eve family practice of celebrating the nativity. With the exception of the fabric and star, each component was foraged from the site and able to be reintegrated with it or removed as part of planned fire mitigation work.
