Natural artifact altar and environment design for local church.

The art/faith relationship is one that is sometimes wrought with tension. What’s more, over the centuries, the artist/church relationship has moved from seasons of great support to seasons of great disdain and all seasons in between. With a desire to bring greater health to those relationships, we worked with a small local church to develop an art and faith series that discussed art in the biblical narrative, art & wellness, art as prophetic voice and more. For this design, we centered a 200-year old pine stump on the altar of a 100-year old church building for a conversation on art in nature. Additional natural and human-created art elements were brought together in the curation of a multi-sensory, immersive environment.
